Klompching Gallery is pleased to present FRESH 2012, showing the work of five new voices in contemporary photography: Martin Bogren, Barbara Ciurej & Lindsay Lochman, Monika Merva, Shawn Rocco and Tabitha Soren.

The objective of Fresh, is to showcase photography that is fresh in approach and vision. The curators looked for photographs that fully employ the medium of photography within the context of contemporary photographic practice. The selected work is showcased across three key platforms:

FRESH 2012 CURATORS

Fred Bidwell
Fred Bidwell (with Laura Ruth Bidwell) is an active collector of contemporary photo-based art and has amassed an extensive collection by European and North American artists. The Bidwells‘ philanthropy in the arts includes the sponsorship of current work by contemporary artists. Fred Bidwell is the Board President of the Akron Art Museum and a Trustee of the Cleveland Museum of Art. In 2012, The Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Foundation established The Transformer Station in Cleveland (Ohio), in collaboration with The Cleveland Museum of Art, which will serve as a venue for contemporary photography, including artworks from the Bidwell Projects Collection. bidwellprojects.com

Darren Ching
Darren Ching is the owner of the Klomcphing Gallery. He is an active contributor to online and print publications on the subject of photography and undertakes consulting for private collectors and photographers. In 2010 he curated (with Debra Klomp Ching) The Architecture of Space for the inaugural Flash Forward Festival in Toronto. Mr. Ching is also the Creative Director of Photo District News.
